OWC’s Mercury Viper series of solid state drives are 3.5″ SATA III drives with a max sequential speed of 600 MB/s. Just like other OWC
SSD’s, the Mercury Viper is made especially for Apple’s Mac computers although it would still run on Windows PCs. The form factor of the Mercury Viper would be ideal for the drive bays of tower-type system units.
A 2.5″ form factor of this SSD will be manufactured but it’s maximum capacity would only be 512 GB. The 3.5″ Mercury Viper is available in capacities from 240 GB to 2 TB, making it one of the first SSDs to reach that capacity. As this drive is typically for workstations, it is not expected to be priced similar to mSATA or 2.5″ SSDs.
