Vector

ocz VectorOCZ’s Vector SSD is the company’s return venture to Indilinx controllers. The OCZ 2.5″ SSD lineup before it were entirely SandForce-driven such as the Vertex 3  and Agility 3. As mentioned, the Vector Series of SSD is powered by Indilinx’s Barefoot 3 controller. This enables this drive to attain maximum sequential read and write speeds of 550 MB/s and 530 MB/s respectively. Maximum IOPS numbers for this drive, meanwhile, is listed at 100,000 for write and 95,000 for read.

Users can choose between three capacities: 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB. The 2.25 W active and 0.9 W idle power consumption of the Vector is lower than the Vertex 4, another Indilinx infused OCZ SSD. Performance optimizations are achieved via TRIM commands and Idle time garbage collection. The package includes a cloning disk from Acronis and a 3.5″ adapter. The warranty for this SSD is five years.

Performance for the OCZ Vector is one of the highest we have tested to date.  It’s transfer speeds are both well in excess of 500MB/s and IOPS are only a hair short of the listed 100,000 IOPS spec.  Add to this a five-year warranty, along with a guarantee that each SSD out the door is subject to a mandatory burn in period and the Vector just may command some respect.
