Patriot’s Inferno series consists of three capacities – 60GB, 100GB, 120GB and 240GB – all based on the popular consumer/client-side SandForce SF-1200 series controller, in this case the SandForce SF-1222 and is therefore similar to both the OCZ Vertex 2 and the Corsair Force series. It uses the SATA 2 interface and offers sequential read and write speeds of up to 285MB/s and 275MB/s respectively.
Like other units of their kind, the Inferno drives do not use an internal DRAM cache, but are still capable of very high throughput regardless of capacity. The drives are specified at 4K Random Write IOPS up to 14K and 4K Random Read IOPS up to 5K – both of these numbers lower than the aforementioned, similar competitors from OCZ and Corsair. They also offer support for the TRIM command, which is available in Windows 7 and later versions of Mac OS X and Linux.

Reviews:
There are quicker 120GB drives on the market, but if your budget won’t stretch past the £160 mark, Patriot’s Inferno 2 is a solid choice.

Looking at the results, the Inferno scores even better than the previous SandForce-based solid-state drive tested, in general.
