The Z-Drive R2 m84 is a PCIe-based SSD targeted at enterprise users. The Z-Drive R2 is like its predecessor bootable and over the PCI-Express 8x interface (full height add-on card). To achieve higher performance, it utilizes an internal four-way RAID 0 configuration. Although the Z-Drive R2 m84 is advertised as an enterprise solution for workstations, servers and storage area networks, it employs the less robust form of MLC (multi-level cell) flash memory modules. It is nevertheless specified at 1,000,000 hours mean time before failure (MTBF). This is however still lower than the consumer-oriented RevoDrive and RevoDrive X2, which are rated at twice that number–2 million hours MTBF.
Available capacities include:
256GB: Part # OCZSSDPX-ZD2M84256G
512GB: Part # OCZSSDPX-ZD2M84512G
1TB: Part # OCZSSDPX-ZD2M841T
There is some difference in performance between the 256GB model versus the 512GB and 1TB models. The 256GB drive offers sequential read performance of up to 700MB/s, write 500MB/s and sustained writes 250MB/s. The 512 and 1TB models are specified at 800MB/s and 750MB/s sequential read/write performance respectively and 500MB/s sustained writes.
