X8 is Solidata’s entry into the Sandforce-driven SATA III arena which already includes Patriot’s Wildfire and Silicon Power’s Velox V30. The drive is available at capacities of 120 GB, 240 GB and 480 GB and can reach a maximum sequential read speed of 560 MB/s and sequential write speed of 530 MB/s. Random read IOPS is up to 60,000 at 4k blocks and random write IOPS is up to 40,000 also at 4k blocks.
The X8 is a MLC NAND Flash drive powered by SF-2281. Its average access time is around 0.1 ms and has a Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) of 2,000,000 hours. The drive supports native TRIM commands as well as SMART and various RAID configurations. It also supports intelligent block management and wear leveling as well as intelligent recycling for for advanced free space management. The drive comes with a limited warranty of two years.
