Velox V70

velox v70The Velox V70 from Silicon Power is a SATA III 6 GBps solid state drive capable of reaching maximum sequential read and write speeds of 557 MB/s and 507 MB/s respectively. It joins the group of SSDs in SATA III connections that are powered by SandForce’s SF-2281 controller such as WildFire and Corsair’s Force Series 3. With IOPS of 86,000 at 4k random write, the Silicon Power’s Velox V70 is among the fastest SSD in its time.

Potential Velox V70 buyers can choose between 60 GB, 120 GB, 240 GB and 480 GB capacities. It utilizes Intel’s toggle/synchronous 25nm NAND flash alongside the SF-2281 controller. The drive supports TRIM command as well as Garbage Collection technology while being NCQ and RAID ready. Transmission reliability is ensured through error correcting codes (ECC) and endurance is promised because of DuraWrite and wear-leveling technologies. SMART monitoring, similar to other solid state drives, is also present.

In the Silicon Power Velox V70, we have a great build, top performance, value, standard three year warranty (although we would like to see five) and they even throw in the desktop adapter which is good to see.
