FTM Plus

The Memoright FTM Plus is the SATA III version of the company’s succesfull FTM series of SSDs. It is powered by SandForce’s SF-2281 Memoright FTM PLUScontroller, joining in with Patriot’s Pyro and Kingston’s Hyper X. The drive is capable of a read speed of 550 MB/s and a write speed of 500 MB/s. But unlike the other drives with the same controller, the FTM Plus contains lower IOPS at 55,000 read and 50,000 write.

Consumers can choose between capacities of 60 GB, 120 GB, 240 GB and 480 GB. This SSD is built to withstand a shock of 1500 G. It can also survive operating temperature as low as -20 degree Celsius and as high as 70 degree Celsius. The eight modules of Micron 25nm synchronous  MLC NAND flash memory as well as other components inside the SSD are protected by OVP (over voltage protection) and OCP (over current protection).

The FTM Plus SSD can support TRIM commands as well as S.M.A.R.T. Its Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) is 2,100,000 hours, consumes less than 2W of power and includes a 3.5 inch adapter when purchased. The drive features block management and wear leveling as well as recycling for advanced free space management.

Reviews:

kitguru:

Rating the drive is slightly complex due to this key issue. It is one of the best 240GB solid state drives we have tested, but we can’t give it our highest award as we can find no retailers who stock it, therefore we have no idea on the price point and subsequent value for money aspect.

thessdreview:

Our testing of the Memoright FTM Plus shows it to be no less than a dynamite SSD with performance matching that of the big guns and all the bells and whistles to accompany this.
