Force Series GT

Corsair’s Force GT series of SSDs is an upgrade to the Force series. This solid state drive boasts an IOPS of 85,000 while churning out sequential read speed of 555 MB/s and a sequential write speed of 525 MB/s. It is among the fastest SATA III 6 Gbps drives in the market.

Consumers have a wide variety of capacities to choose from as Corsair offers the Force GT in six variants: 60 GB, 90 GB, 120 GB, 180 GB, 240 GB and 480 GB. This drive is best used with high end computer applications such as graphic design software or games as it is quite adept at moving compressed data. Besides that, its built in ECC functions will ensure that the drive will last a long time.

The drive has a warranty of three years and a Mean Time Between Failure of 2 million hours. The Force GT SSD is compatible with every current operating systems and supports TRIM commands for Windows 7. SMART and multiple RAID configurations are also supported. Similar to OCZ’s Vertex 3, the Force GT is powered by SandForce’s SF-2200 series (SF-2281) controller.

The sheer peak performance, and then the sustained performance throughput of the GT is outrageously fast. If you put a drive like this into your SATA 3 compatible laptop or SATA 3 compatible PC, you’ll have no idea what is about to hit you.

Having tested this drive, it is without doubt that an SSD can potentially give your computer a viable performance boost. In case you are still skeptical, let me put it this way – the upgrade in speed that you get from installing an SSD, like the Corsair Force GT, is like the 100 horsepower boost you’d get from adding a 100 shot nitrous system into your car!
