Vertex 3
Just like its 2.5″ version, the 3.5″ Vertex 3 SSD from OCZ is available at capacities of 120 GB, 240 GB and 480 GB. The maximum sequential read and write is also the same, at 550 MB/s and 520 MB/s respectively. 85,000 IOPS is the maximum 4k random write speed, achieved by the 120 and 240 GB models.
The MLC NAND Vertex 3 utilizes the SATA III 6 Gbps interface and is powered by SandForce’s SF-2281 controller. It can consume 1.8 W of power when active and only 0.55 W when idle. It supports RAID configuration for a faster throughput and is compatible with operating systems Windows XP, Vista and 7 and Mac OS X. The 3.5″ Vertex 3 comes with a limited three year warranty and a Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) of 2,000,000 hours.

Reviews:
OCZ’s new Vertex 3 3.5″ solid state drive is great choice for the consumer looking to put a high-performance SSD in their workstation or desktop PC. With its desktop-ready form factor, the drive fits in existing 3.5″ drive bays without the need for an adapter.
When you get down to the bottom line (that’d be this one) for a select audience this is a fantastic drive, for the rest of us it is “only” an excellent drive, I give it a solid 9.2/10 and definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a fast 120GB drive, especially if you dislike 2.5″-3.5″ adapters like I do.
We were very impressed with how well this drive performed. We were able to hit 554MB/sec read as well as 517MB/sec write speeds putting it slightly above maximum rated speeds for this particular size during one of our benchmark tests. The 3.5″ Vertex 3 performed just as well as the rest of the Vertex 3 lineup from OCZ but with its upscaled size, makes it a convenient choice for desktop PCs.
