Toshiba’s HG3 series of SSDs consists of capacities of 64 GB, 128 GB, 256 GB and 512 GB. The drive also comes in different form factors namely a 2.5-inch with a height of 9.5 mm, a 2.5-inch with a height of 7mm, a 1.8-inch with a case, and a 1.8-inch model without a case. Each of these drives uses the SATA 2.6 interface (3 GB/s).
The HG3 series of SSDs are not the fastest SATA 2 drives on the market. But given the price, a HG3 drive is suitable for a hard disk replacement. Its maximum sequential read speed is 220 MB/s. The 32nm MLC-based NAND Flash SSD can also reach a maximum sequential write speed of 180 MB/s. The Mean Time Between Failure for this solid state drive is 1 million hours.
