Silicon Power’s Velox V30 is the direct successor to the Velox V20. It is a 2.5 inch SATA III drive capable of reaching a sequential read speed of 550 MB/s as well as sequential write speed of 500 MB/s. Similarly, the maximum 4k random write is 85,000 IOPS. The Velox V30 is one of the Sandforce powered solid state drives in the market which includes Patriot’s WildFire and Super Talent’s TeraDrive CTR3. Silicon Power’s Velox V30 is available in capacities of 60 GB, 120 GB, 240 GB and 480 GB.
The Velox V30 is powered by SandForce’s SF-2281 processor. Inside are 16 chips of Intel’s 25 nm NAND flash memory for the 240 GB model. Durawrite and Wear Leveling technologies are present for extending the life span of the drive. This SSD comes with a three year warranty and a Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) of 2,000,000 hours. SMART and TRIM are supported as well as ECC for increased data reliability.

Reviews:
I like the Velox V30. I would recommend it in a heartbeat… I know its the politics of it all and people don’t like hearing it but, personally, I hate seeing a great product get overlooked because the visibility isn’t there. The Silicon Power Velox V30 is just that great product.
We are starting to draw closer to the end of the SF-2281 era. It’s now October and in a few months chatter will start to pick up about 3000 Series controllers from SandForce. So far we’ve seen a lot of drives based on the SF-2281 and even one using the SF-2282. In that time we’ve called out some winners and losers, but there is a new field starting to emerge; the average in between, unremarkable products. The Silicon Power V30 fits in this last class of products – it may even be on the low end of that group as well.
Even if it might not be the fastest drive, it is still an SSD, which means the V30 60 GB offers a huge improvement in access time over any traditional HDD, resulting in a much smoother and snappier experience.
