Silicon Power’s Velox V20 is a SATA II drive powered by Sandforce’s SF 1200 controller. It is available at five capacities namely 40 GB, 60 GB, 120 GB, 240 GB and 480 GB. Firmware and formatting reduces these advertised capacities. This drive can reach a sequential read speed of 285 MB/s and a sequential write speed of 275 MB/s. The Velox V20 comes with a 3.5 inch adapter. The drive is engineered to withstand a force as strong as 1500 G and vibrations of 20 G peak to peak.
Inside the Velox V20 are 16 seldom used Hynix 32 nm 4 GB NAND flash memory modules. The drive supports wear leveling technology to extend its lifespan more than the three year warranty. TRIM commands are also supported as well as ECC and AES 128 encryption for guaranteed data reliability.

Reviews:
The Silicon Power V20 performed well in its synthetic tests and surprised the heck out of us in its PCMark Vantage result. This would appear to tell us that this would be an ideal drive for a typical PC user who simply surfs the net, sends e-mails and uses typical application software.
The performance of the Velox V20 is at par with most value priced hard drives. The write speeds of the V20 are not as impressive as the high-end hard drives such as the WD Velociraptor, but they can match speeds of value drive offerings. The read speeds are almost the same as that of a WD Velociraptor.
