Hyper X

Hyper X is Kingston’s first SATA III solid state drive. The SSD utilizes the SandForce SF-2281 controller. This is the same controller that powers Patriot’s Pyro. and Memoright’s FTM Plus. Because of this, the Hyper X  offers similar sequential read/write speed as the Pyro at 555 MB/s and 515 MB/s respectively. Kingston Hyper X is available at capacities 120 GB and 240 GB.

Kingston Hyper X utilizes an advanced wear leveling technology that ensures each flash cells are consumed evenly in order to maximize the performance of the drive. Wear leveling also increases the possibility of the SSD to last longer while maintaining optimal performance. Hyper X contains 25 nm Compute-Quality MLC NAND at 5k P/E Cycles.

The Hyper X sustains IOPS numbers of 20,000/6000 for the 120 GB variant at random 4k read/write. The 240 GB variant offers random 4k read/write numbers of 40,000/60,000. It supports both TRIM and SMART and has a three-year warranty with 24/7 support.

ssdreview:

The Kingston HyperX 240GB SSD is one of the best all around solid state drive products to come across our desk to date.

overclock3d:

So many drives sacrifice their write performance on the altar of absolute read speed because the public love those gaudy numbers. The Hyper X though with its combination of SandForce controller and 25nm Intel MLC NAND has mind-blowingly big read speeds, but still keeps the write speed high.

legitreviews:

Where to start? First, I can’t say enough about what a great job Kingston did with this drive. Not only does it look killer, the packaging and optional bundle are top notch.
