Nova Series

Corsair Nova 128GBCorsair’s Nova series SSDs are available in three different capacities – 32GB, 64GB and 128GB. All are based on the Indilinx Barefoot controller (now owned by OCZ), and offer good performance over the SATA 2 interface, especially the larger 128GB drive.

The smallest, 32GB version is capable of sequential read/write speeds of up to 195MB/s and 70MB/s respectively, the 64GB version 215MB/s and 130MB/s, and finally the 128GB model, which can read and write at speeds up to 270MB/s and 195MB/s. Thus, the 128GB version is considerably faster than the entry model, although they both use MLC NAND and a 64MB DRAM cache. A read speed of 270MB/s borders on what the SATA 2 interface is capable of.

Like other 2.5-inch drives from Corsair, a 3.5-inch mounting bracket is included with each drive purchase.

Wow, when it came to benchmarking the Corsair Nova 128GB SSD, I expected good results, but what I got was awesome. The read speeds alone of this drive is astonishing. It seems the only handicap the Nova drive has is during the 4K writes where it does bog down a bit, but that is it.

The performance is as advertised with read speeds up-to roughly 260~270 MB/sec in certain conditions and write performance at roughly 190~200 MB/sec, depending on how you measure.
